In these desert countries, about 60% of the population lives

below the poverty line. Almost half of this population is under the responsibility of mothers; widowed, separated or

caring for a sick or disabled husband.

Rosa del Desierto began its journey at the end of 2005 and from very small beginnings, it has grown into an organization that brings help to many people from different sectors throughout the city of Nouadhibou.

Rosa del Desierto distributes food and clothing to the most needy families. Currently, we have more than 300 registered families to whom food is distributed monthly.

We help mothers, who are usually heads of households, to find a job and if they do not have a profession, we teach them one so that they can have a means of earning a living. We also grant micro-credits to start small businesses that allow the subsistence of the family.

RdD supports families in their children's housing and schooling expenses, so that they can go to school (school expenses, school materials, etc).

RdD collaborates with local organizations, public authorities and religious sectors, in order to better understand the social reality and specific needs. This collaboration allows us to reach the most needy people.
